Add Clearpay at Checkout

Prerequisites

Before you start, ensure that you, the merchant, have Shopify installed and working.

Overview

The Clearpay integration process can be completed in three stages:

• Download the Clearpay Payment Application

• Connect your Account

• Final Confirmation and Activation

Download the Clearpay Payment Application

Do the following:

1. Go to the Clearpay page on the Shopify App Store.
2. Login to Shopify.
3. Download the Clearpay application. The Install app screen appears. See the picture below:

4. Shopify asks you to grant Clearpay permission to View personal data and View and edit store data. Click Install to continue.

Connect your Account

Follow these instructions if you are a Shopify merchant and already have a Clearpay account:

1. Download and install the Clearpay app from the Shopify app store. See the Download the Clearpay Payment Application section above.
2. Select the country of your Clearpay account and verify your merchant credentials, specifically your Clearpay Merchant ID and Secret Key. See the picture below:

Warning

In step 2 above, you must use your Clearpay Production Merchant ID and your Clearpay Production Secret Key. Your Sandbox credentials will not work for account activation, even if you are in a Sandbox environment.

Final Confirmation and Activation

After successful verification, you return to Shopify. A Clearpay screen appears with two toggle switches and a More actions menu. Do the following:

1. Activate the payment gateway. Keep Test mode inactive, and click Activate. See the picture below for the result:

Warning

Do not enable Test mode. If you enable Test mode, the integration fails. The Test mode function is only for use on dedicated test websites. Contact your Clearpay Account Manager if you need test credentials.

2. Go to your online store and look for Clearpay as a checkout option.

Optional - Connect with an Email Address

There are two cases when you can use an an email address to connect to Clearpay:

• If you give Clearpay an email address that we recognise as linked to an account holder

• If you are a Shopify merchant but do not have an Clearpay account

Verification with an Email Address

Follow these instructions if you are a Shopify merchant and have an Clearpay account:

1. You have just installed the application, see the Download the Clearpay Payment Application section above.

2. You are prompted to select the country you are located in, and an email address. Select your country from the Country list. Enter your email address, and Clearpay sends a numeric code in an email to this email address.

3. Enter the numeric code from the email that Clearpay sent you. You are now verified, follow the instructions in the Final Confirmation and Activation section above.

Sign-up with an Email Address

Follow these instructions if you are a Shopify merchant and do not have an Clearpay account:

1. You have just installed the application, see the Download the Clearpay Payment Application section above.

2. You are prompted to select the country you are located in, and to enter an email address. Select your country from the Country list. Enter your email address, and Clearpay sends a numeric code in an email to this email address.

3. Enter the numeric code from the email that Clearpay sent you.

4. Follow the instructions to sign up to Clearpay. When you are signed up, Clearpay sends you a Clearpay Merchant ID and a Secret Key.

5. Once you have the Merchant ID and Secret Key, you can follow the Connect your Account instructions above.
